About the role
We’re on the lookout for a self-motivated Mid-Weight developer to join our highly passionate and ever-innovating development team, led by our experienced Lead Engineer.
You'll take the helm on a multitude of projects, collaborating with our in-house teams to fortify our clients’ digital infrastructures – produce outstanding websites and digital products for a varied range of customers and use cases. If you have substantial experience in both front and back-end development – particularly focused in WordPress – this could be the right next step for you.

Responsibilities
- Develop a range of websites using our bespoke WordPress development infrastructure – as well as other digital products including headless solutions, and interactive portals.
- Integrate and test custom APIs and services into client websites to deliver advanced functionality and features.
- Manage a portion of the team’s website maintenance duties – conducting checks, updates, performance monitoring and patches to ensure client websites remain secure, fast and compliant.
- Collaborate with designers, project managers, and content and SEO specialists to determine the correct solutions for clients and shape robust requirements.
- Actively participate in team meetings, offering insights and suggestions for improving processes, workflows, and overall team efficiency.
- Manage a portion of the team’s website maintenance retainers – conducting checks, updates, performance monitoring and patches to ensure client websites remain secure, fast and compliant.
- Lead quality assurance, testing and user acceptance testing initiatives from a technical perspective – identifying fixes and resolving bugs.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of website migrations and launches, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruption for clients.
- Support the Lead Engineer with the research, development and documentation of new technologies and solutions which add value to the agency’s tech stack and capabilities.
- Stay abreast of the latest web development trends, tools, and best practices – always be on the lookout for the next thing and how we might utilise it effectively.
Requirements
- 3+ years’ commercial development experience, with a catalogue of complete projects to draw upon as examples of your capabilities.
- Well-versed in the following development languages: HTML, CSS, PHP and JavaScript.
- Significant knowledge of WordPress development and infrastructure (Advanced Custom Fields, Custom Post Types, WordPress Loops, Template Hierarchy and Plugins).
- Confident working with workflow technologies including Javascript Libraries and Versioning Tools (i.e. Bitbucket).
- Experience utilising other workflow tools including Compilers (i.e. WebPack), SAAS and CI/CD pipelines are desirable – and foundational awareness is a plus.
- Able to work read design prototyping tools like Figma – working with layers, exporting assets correctly and measuring spaces.
- Familiar with environmental and database tools including IDE applications (i.e. VsCode), web servers, FTP/SFTP clients and MySQL.
- A general understanding of UX and UI best practices, with the capability to accurately translate design prototypes into robust technical products.
- A self-starter approach to work, with a hunger and willingness to continually improve outcomes for clients.
- Proven experience in managing productive relationships – whether with colleagues, clients or other stakeholders.
- First-class project prioritisation skills, with the ability to spin multiple plates and maintain accountability to delivery timelines.
