Diary of an Apprentice

It’s hard to believe that almost 3 months have passed since I started my apprenticeship here at Banc Media.

I still remember the day I came in for my interview with Martin. I was nervous but excited at the same time.

To be honest, my expectations were very low because of a previous interview that I had with a different company, which let’s just say didn’t go too well.

Upon my arrival I realised however that Banc was different. The atmosphere that filled the office was pretty amazing. I knew instantly that Banc would be an awesome place to work.

After my interview, which went really well (I think) I had’t heard anything for a while. It felt like weeks but it was probably just a couple of days.

Suddenly, one day, out of nowhere, I received a phone call from Arch Apprenticeships. I was told: “Congratulations, you got the job!”, I was really surprised but also very excited at the same time. After months of trying I finally had a job…

My first day at Banc came soon afterwards. I was really nervous because I had no idea what to expect but if it was going to be anything like my interview, I had nothing to worry about.

I came in and was introduced to everyone upon my arrival. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice everybody was to me.

The rest of the day went by without any problems, everything was set up for me: I was told more about the business, and the SEO guys took me out for lunch… it was an awesome first day.

During the next couple of weeks I slowly began to learn about SEO.

Joe (who’s my line manager) took time out of his busy schedule and made me feel very welcome. I learn new skills every single day and my time at Banc has been amazing so far.

I love learning new things and although I still have a lot to learn I think that the skills I have already gained will help me a lot in the future.

Apart from learning about SEO I also have various modules that I have to complete as a part of my apprenticeship. They are very time consuming as most of them require a fair amount of research but I don’t mind. They fit perfectly with the work that I’m doing at Banc so it’s nice to have such a large amount of information available to me at all times.

Overall I am really thankful to Martin and everyone else at Banc for giving me a chance and allowing me to learn.

Each day I learn new skills and for that I am very grateful. I honestly couldn’t imagine doing my apprenticeship anywhere else.
