Complemented by the timeless squawk of a thousand seagulls, Brighton SEO has become the go-to event for search marketers across the UK and beyond — hosting an eclectic roster of experienced and knowledgeable speakers from the furthest reaches of the search stratosphere.
Taking place on a biannual basis, Brighton SEO belies the myth that everything down south is eye-wateringly expensive, by offering guests free entry to the daylong conference — inclusive of all speakers.
For us northerners, the idea of a multi-award winning search marketing event being 100% free doubtless raises an eyebrow or two. But, struck dumb with FoMO, we thought it only right to put our scepticism to one side and book a coveted spot at September’s event, which is set to take place tomorrow (18 September).
Not ones to abandon ship and leave our clients floundering on the end of the blower; just two members of the Banc team (Charlie and Little Dicky) will be heading down yonder to attend tomorrow’s event. Here’s what they’re looking forward to.
If found, please return up north.
What We’re Looking Forward to at Brighton SEO
With around 60 speakers scheduled to impart their wisdom over the course of the day, it’s tough to discern what to see and when. Like a kid poised above a box of chocolates, SEO Manager Charlie has handpicked six of the speakers he’s looking forward to at this year’s event.
Aleyda Solis, Orainti
Included among Forbes list of the top 10 marketers to follow in 2015, Aleyda Solis has paved a profitable niche for her company Orainti — offering SEO consultancy to a handful of SMEs and multinationals. Bringing her extensive knowledge to the good patrons of Brighton SEO, Solis will be delivering some expert tips during her session, The 2015 Technical Marketer Toolbox.
Gary Illyes, Google Switzerland
Given that the mere mention of Google at Brighton SEO stirs interest and pricks ears, Gary Illyes will likely be addressing a packed auditorium when delivering his talk, Mobile’s Still the New Black. Hailing from Google Switzerland, Illyes is a webmaster trends analyst with years of experience creating a better search experience for users.
Paddy Moogan, Aira
Without meaning to plug the expertise of a rival digital marketing agency, Brighton delegates stand to learn much from Paddy Moogan — a fresh-faced upstart and the author of The Link Building Book. During tomorrow’s conference, Moogan will be discussing the process for reverse engineering success content in his talk, A Process for Reverse Engineering Success Content. No points for the title, Paddy.
Paul Madden, Kerboo
Dubbed a ‘long time link builder, shorter time link cleanerupperer’ on Brighton SEO’s official site, Paul Madden is the developer and co-founder of nifty SEO software platform, Kerboo. With oodles of technical SEO know-how, Madden’s talk, A Systematic Approach to Managing Relationship & Links, promises to be an intriguing affair.
Jon Earnshaw, Pi Datametrics
Focusing on the stuff of SEO nightmares, Jon Earnshaw’s session, Cannibalisation: The SEO’s Biggest Nightmare, and How to Identify It, looks set to be a popular highlight of the Brighton SEO calendar. With self-professed interests including cosmology and quantum mechanics, delegates should expect a good dollop of eccentricity from Earnshaw’s talk.
Cosmology and SEO: All the big questions, answered.
Gianluca Fiorelli, IloveSEO.net
Avid Nutella fan and all round nice guy, Gianluca Fiorelli, will be offering usable insight into keyword research during his talk, An Actionable Guide to Modern Keyword and Topical Research. Founder of popular SEO site, IloveSEO.net, Fiorelli will likely draw a sizeable crowd when he takes to the podium this Friday.
